Kathleen Seligman

Attorney at Law

Kate is a litigator focused on construction and commercial litigation matters. She represents contractors, subcontractors, construction managers and owners, in single and multi-party litigation in both federal and state courts. Kate manages a variety of construction disputes including mechanics’ liens, bond claims and payment claims, as well as litigation involving changed conditions and project delays.

Knowing that not all client issues are resolved in court, mediation or arbitration, Kate strives to provide a total solution. Sometimes a solution can be as small as one letter, other times Kate works with the Horn Williamson team to create a communications plan and get the media involved.

Litigation can often be a complex and daunting process. Recognized for being responsive and approachable, Kate helps Horn Williamson homeowner clients intimated by the legal system better understand their rights and their case.  Her construction and commercial clients appreciate Kate’s eye towards the pragmatic, her attention to client goals, and her focus on efficient paths to resolution.

Kate is a member of the Horn Williamson Construction Defect Team.

Some of Kate’s recent successes include:

  • Dismissal of a 4.5 million dollar claim against a general contractor client, enabling Kate’s team to settle the case without having to litigate in court, saving the client millions of dollars in damages.
  • Together with the Horn Williamson Team, avoided litigation and efficiently negotiated and settled more than 150 defective construction claims on behalf of homeowners fighting against several different homebuilders in the region.
  • Recovered monies owed by a general contractor to a subcontractor client for change order work and delays on a construction project.

When she is not working, Kate loves to travel to unique and culturally rich destinations with her husband and three daughters.
